The Make-Sense Investment Column: The Perfect Pair

Some things are worth splurging for. I know what you’re thinking. The entire purpose of my blog existence is about saving and being financially smart when it comes to making fashion decisions. Think about it. I’m sure you’ve bought a pair of “cheap” jeans that lasts you a couple of washes before they fall apart. In measuring time, 1 “cheap” jeans would last me about, oh, 3 months. Let’s say, “cheap” pair =$40 x 4 trips out to the mall to search for more jeans to throw away in 3 months. We’re looking at $160/year…

I don’t know about you, but I hate shopping for jeans. I do, however, love finding that perfect pair. Searching is the hardest part. It’s emotionally draining--I mean, the trying-on part. Some are too long or too short, some brands make you look flat on your behind, some just don’t fit, and unfortunately, majority don’t last long. When I mean, “last long”, I mean you-can-keep-them-for-years long. See below. I put together a list of places on where to find that perfect pair so that you do not have to go through the emotional rollercoaster, and most important, make a good investment.

-A/X (aka Armani Exchange)
-Nordstroms (Look for these Brands: Seven for All Mankind, Lucky)
-Express
-Ruehl
-Levis (also available at: JCPenney, Sears, Urban Outfitters)
